  • Garmin Speak puts Amazon Alexa in your car

The Garmin Speak is going to sit on the car's dash and provide access to Alexa.

Garmin Speak is relatively tiny at 1.5-inches and it sports an LED light alongside an OLED display; the device attaches directly to a car's windshield.

"Our vision is that the Alexa service will be everywhere our customers want it, including inside the auto", said Ned Curic, vice president of automotive at Amazon Alexa.

Garmin has just released their new Garmin Speak, an Amazon Alexa equipped smart device for your vehicle.

"Alexa, play "Goin" Mobile' by The Who".

Amazon and Garmin have teamed up to bring the wisdom and subservient attitude of Alexa to a vehicle near you. Whilst it has been possible to use Alexa from your auto previously by mounting your phone and using the Alexa app, this is the first device that has been designed with this objective in mind. For starters, the hardware pairs with a Garmin Speak app on your smartphone and a Garmin skill for the Alexa service that allows it to search for destinations and give turn-by-turn directions. Ask Speak for directions with your voice; simply say "Alexa, ask Garmin to take me to the nearest gas station", for instance.

Turn words into actions with Garmin Speak voice service, your always-ready driving companion. The device also can play music and audiobooks streamed through the vehicle's speakers. The upshot is that there's nothing to pull a driver's eyes away from the road for very long.

Garmin announced a new in-car navigation device integrating Amazon's digital assistant Alexa.

The Garmin Speak costs $149 and is available today if you are interested.
