Apple iPhone X Dragged Down By Biggest Feature

  • More people are buying Apple iPhone 7 than iPhone 8 – here's why

Perhaps one interesting thing to note is that even on launch day, the iPhone 8 was still readily available, something that is quite unusual when compared to other models at the time of launch, where they are usually sold out.

Apple shares dropped by 2.6 percent Thursday after signs of poor demand for the latest iPhone on the market. Apple is holding a staggered release of its newest devices as iPhone 8 models began hitting stores in September, while the top-of-the-line iPhone X is expected in November. Gartner and KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predict the November release date, and possible limited quantities at launch, will push stronger sales of the iPhone X into 2018.

Apple has never cut production of an iPhone so early in the cycle, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, which first reported on the cutback.

That could mean that shipment numbers could total just five to six million units per month in November and December, well below the estimated demand for 50 million units of the other new release, the iPhone X, when preorders begin on October 27.

This device is a great deal more expensive (from $999) but it does offer an edge-to-edge display and no home button.

Shares of the Cupertino, Calif., company were down to $155.29 at 10:10 a.m.

GE will standardize on iPhone and iPad for mobile devices and also promote Mac as a choice for its global workforce of more than 330,000 employees. Meanwhile, other Wall Street analysts downplayed Apple's move to cut back on iPhone 8 production, saying the device's production overall looks like what they had anticipated. "Apple's lower iPhone 8 pricing should limit the impact, but it remains a risk".

As such, it's no wonder that the iPhone X with its significantly different design over previous iPhones is getting Apple fans all hot and bothered.

Can the iPhone X Make Up the Slack? "Apple has fallen victim to its own success", Jeff Orr, research director at ABI Research previously said. Some suggest it's due to the fact that many customers are simply waiting for the iPhone X to arrive.
