The 26-year-old Zeenat Shahzadi was abducted on August 19, 2015 by unknown armed men when she was traveling by an auto-rickshaw in Lahore.

A female journalist who was abducted over two years ago was recovered on Wednesday night, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal confirmed on Friday.

"Zeenat Shahzadi today has been reunited with her family in Lahore and we are happy for her safe recovery".

"Alman Latif, Shahzadi's brother describe the incident to media with the agony that Helping an Indian prisoner Hamid Ansari has cost us dearly we have given so much of losses, His sister is missing and my younger brother Saddam hanged himself after losing hope to get reunited with her". Human rights activist Hina Jillani, in a 2016 interview with BBC Urdu, alleged that Shahzadi had once told her family that she had been "forcibly taken away by security agencies", detained for four hours and questioned about Hamid. She had filed an application with the Supreme Court's Human Rights Cell on behalf of Fauzia Ansari, Hamid's mother. Shahzadi was in contact with her mother and went out of the way to help her. Hamid was imprisoned for three years after Zeenat went missing.

The journalist's prodding had forced security agencies in the country to admit that Ansari was in their custody. He formed a relationship with a Pakistani woman over Facebook, and panicked when she told him that her parents were pushing her to marry someone else. She was working with Daily Nai Khaber and also Metro News Channel at the time of her abduction. 1,300 out of a total 3,000 missing people's cases remain pending before the commission.

Shahzadi's brother Saddam Hussain had reportedly committed suicide in March past year.
