Simmons won his third Gold Glove and first in the American League Tuesday in his second season with the Angels, and he's a favorite for the AL's Platinum Glove as the league's top overall defensive player (Simmons won NL Platinum as a fearless in 2013). Bob Dernier is the only other Cubs outfielder to win the award, doing so in 1984. In addition to last year, he previously won in 2012 and 2014 with the Atlanta Braves and in 2015 with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The prizes for defensive excellence were announced by Rawlings for the 60th time. Hosmer is tied with the Dodgers' Adrian Gonzalez for most Gold Gloves among active first basemen.

Baseball America rated Barnhart the best defensive catcher in the organization for four straight seasons from 2011-2014 and, following the 2011 season, he received Minor League Baseball's prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove Award for catchers. "It means a lot".

"This is one of the main awards I always wanted to win", Stroman said in an interview on ESPN. Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel had won the past three years.

This season, both veteran catchers lost to Tucker Barnhart of the Reds. "Buster and Yadi are obviously two of the best guys in baseball".

The "Best of the Best" honor - voted on by fans -- will be unveiled Friday and will be given to one AL victor and one NL victor.

Hosmer was awarded his fourth Gold Glove.
