Kevin Spacey's Scenes Are Being Totally Replaced In A Just-Finished Movie

  • Kevin Spacey cut from 'All the Money in the World,' scenes to be reshot with Christopher Plummer

Kevin Spacey been cut out of a leading role as United States oil tycoon J. Paul Getty in a film about the 173 kidnapping of the oil tycoon's grandson, weeks before it is due to be released in cinemas.

Sources close to the production of "All the Money in the World" have said that Plummer began reshoots immediately following the release of new sexual harassment allegations against a teenage boy were directed at the Oscar winning actor, Spacey. Scott is also determined to to keep the film's December 22 release date. The family made a decision to come forward, she said, after others went public with allegations of sexual misconduct against Spacey and other celebrities.

That Scott and the All the Money in the World's producers are willing to go to such lengths to essentially erase Spacey's presence from the film speaks to how seriously Hollywood is taking the allegations of sexual assault that have been levied against him - or at least how desperate many people in the entertainment industry are to distance themselves from a man whose behavior was allegedly a longstanding open secret. All the Money in the World chronicles the true life saga of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and his mother's desperate attempt to convince his insanely wealthy grandfather (Spacey/Plummer) to pay the ransom.

The 87-year-old Plummer was reportedly Scott's first choice for the role of J. Paul Getty, but the director was pressured into casting a bigger name.

The film was slotted to be shown at AFI Fest in Los Angeles but was pulled Tuesday because of the accusations against Spacey, which continues to mount.

Heather Unruh wiped back tears when she told the story of how the actor bought her 18-year-old son many drinks at a restaurant in Nantucket on July 2016, then touched him inappropriately. The allegations have led to his firing from the hit television series House of Cards by the streaming service Netflix, which has also refused to release a film in which Spacey stars as the late American writer and critic Gore Vidal. Spacey announced he was gay in a statement apologizing to Rapp, while claiming he did not remember the alleged incident.
