Google Makes Its Secret Files Go App Available for Download

Oh Google! Despite the search giant's continued efforts to host a clean marketplace, its Play Store keeps distributing malicious apps. It's built to seek out files you don't need-rarely used apps, duplicate images and spam-so you can easily delete them. This is partially how it managed to bypass the vetting process since this isn't a dummy app. Since the app has complete functionality, target user is also less likely to be suspicious of its activities.
You can go ahead and download the Files Go Beta now on the Play Store, however, Google doesn't give an exact timeframe when the official app will be released. But, of course, not everyone uses Google Photos, and not everyone uses Google Drive, so it will be interesting to see whether Google tries to push its other services through the Files Go app in the future. Google's VP of product management, Caesar Sengupta, took to Twitter last night to acknowledge the app and that it had been discovered, noting that they opened it up to more people are at welcoming feedback.
Files Go is part file manager, part transfer utility, and part cleanup utility. Although it's still not clear how this feature works just yet, we're assuming it involves Bluetooth, sort of like Apple's Airdrop feature. To share any image or document via Files To Go, go the Files Tab and simply tap on the Send button.
Users can get suggestions on unused apps to remove by granting Files Go usage access in system Settings.
