Google Maps is getting a new look soon.

Google has announced that it is revamping Maps to make it easier to understand and use. A change is coming to the driving, navigation, transit and explore maps that will allow each section to focus on what is important to users looks at the specific category.

Other than that, Google has also updated the platform's color scheme and added new icons to help users quickly identify exactly what kind of point of interest they are looking at.

Google mentioned in its blog post that it has designated a colour for each type of destination or point in a Google Maps. Similarly, shopping places are blue, health-related places such as hospitals are pink, entertainment places have teal coloured icons, and so on.

For instance, the color Google has given for food and drink restaurants is orange. Hunt also mentioned that the updates will come in the next few weeks on all products including Assistant, Search, Earth, and Android Auto.

Google says the new style will eventually also appear in apps, websites and experiences offered by companies that use the Google Maps APIs.

It's nearly hard to imagine these days how we've managed to survive the past decades without Google Maps and related services like Waze.
