Second Woman Accuses Al Franken of Sexual Misconduct

  • U.S. Senator Al Franken

Franken came by, Menz told reporters, and "pulled me in really close, like awkward close, and as my husband took the picture, he put his hand full-fledged on my rear".

The woman in the photo, Leeann Tweeden, accepted an apology from Franken, but it sparked a flurry of allegations and incriminating photos when she accused him of "groping" and "forcibly kissing her". On Monday, a second woman claimed he touched her butt while taking a photo.

Franken's office says that the senator has no recollection about his interaction with Menz, but it said that he felt sorry that she came away from their interaction feeling disrespected.

We feel compelled to stand up for Al Franken, whom we have all had the pleasure of working with over the years on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

CNN reports that 33-year-old Lindsay Menz, now a resident of Frisco, Texas, claims that Franken grabbed her buttocks inappropriately in 2010 while she was attending a Minnesota State Fair. Franken has since apologized for his alleged misconduct, though noted he "certainly" doesn't remember the interaction the way Tweeden does. While practicing for a USO show in Afghanistan that they were to perform for US troops, Franken forcibly kissed her and shoved his tongue into her mouth, she said.

Tweeden said she had largely kept her experiences with Franken a secret, although she said she had described his actions at the time to a few other members of the USO tour and to her husband.

"I respect women. I don't respect men who don't", he added.

A second allegation against Sen.

Menz responded, "Dude - Al Franken TOTALLY molested me!"

"It was wrapped tightly around my butt cheek", she said".

Franken, for his part, has issued a statement not unlike his remarks regarding Tweeden. If the Senate Ethics Committee moves forward with its investigation - a probe that Franken has endorsed and agreed to assist - it may therefore be treated differently. And she had evidence - a photo that had been taken by a photographer of Franken with his fingers splayed, grabbing her chest through her clothes as she slept, and smiling wickedly back at the camera.
