  • Delhi High Court dismisses plea against ‘Padmavati

A body has been found hanging outside a fort in the northern state of Rajasthan along with a warning note that mentions controversial Indian film Padmavati. But the close reading of the message written on stones near the body shows the otherwise.

The release of the movie, earlier scheduled for December 1, has been deferred. The words "Padmavati ka virodh (Protest against Padmavati)" were also found at the same place. With a threat note, "We don't burn effigies, we kill".

According to the report, Mahipal Singh Makrana, member of the Rajput Karni Sena said, "This is not our way of protest".

The Karni Sena President has condemned the whole situation and said "This is not the way to send a message". This one message made all believe that it was done by the anti-Padmavati brigade. Graffiti was found near the hanging body in the fort that read, "Padmavati, hum sirf putle nahi latkate" (Padmavati, we don't just hang effigies).

The police have identified the body as that of a 40-year-old local Chetan Saini. While she is busy writing the information and broadcasting ministry urging that Padmavati must not be released without including the changes demanded by various protesting groups, a shocking incident like this in her backyard should bring priorities into focus.

Previously, Haryana BJP's Chief Media Coordinator, Suraj Pal Amu was offering a reward of INR 10 crore for beheading the film's lead actor Deepika Padukone and director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone in the titular role of Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji.

The movie has been mired in controversies over its release.
