Egypt's Sisi vows fierce action against mosque attack amid massive condemnation

The Egyptian military kicked off a hunt for the attackers of a Sufi mosque in the northern Sinai, a military source said, combing the area of Friday's assault that killed at least 235 people - thought to be the deadliest terror attack on the country's soil.

According to the TV network, the mosque was attacked during the Friday prayer in the Al Rawdah inhabited community near the city of Arish, the capital of North Sinai Governorate.

An attack on a mosque in Egypt has left dozens dead and at least 75 injured.

Egypt's reaction: The President vowed to restore security and avenge those killed.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, a former armed forces commander who presents himself as a defender against Islamist militants, convened an emergency meeting with his defence and interior ministers and intelligence chief soon after the attack, the presidency's Facebook page and state television said.

In response to the most recent terror attack on USA soil, in NY on October 31, Trump said that: "We're so politically correct that we're afraid to do anything".

President of the United States Donald Trump also tweeted out calling the attack an act of cowardice and praying for the families of those who were victims of this "despicable" attack. "This terrorist act will strengthen our resolve, steadfastness and will to stand up to, resist and battle against terrorism". "My honest condolences to all those affected by such a barbaric act", he tweeted.

A bomb explosion ripped through the mosque before gunmen opened fire on the worshippers gathered for weekly Friday prayers, officials said. ISIS' affiliate in Egypt claimed that attack.

"Justice will be served against all those who participated, contributed, supported, funded, or instigated this cowardly attack", Sisi said in a statement.

The terror attack has drawn widespread local and global condemnation as cowardly act of terrorism.

President of Evangelical Church in Egypt Andrea Zaki condemned the terrorist attack, saying it aims at destabilizing the security and stability in Egypt.
