ASUS has unveiled its new smartphone, the ZenFone Max Plus (M1). The handset is called Asus Zenfone Max Plus (M1), and that is a really long name.

The ASUS Zenfone Max Plus (M1) comes with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen and supports a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels (reported here). The smartphone was spotted on Russian website Helpix.ru hinting at an official launch soon.

It comes with two storage options - 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage - with an option for expanding the storage via a dedicated microSD card slot that can take cards up to 256GB.

The USP of the Asus Zenfone Max Plus (M1) is the dual camera setup at the back and the massive battery inside. The performance of the system is managed by an Octa-Core 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6750T 64-bit processor along with Mali-T860 GPU. Up front, there's an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.0, which is capable of supporting facial recognition based on the unlocking of the smartphone. Zenfone Max Plus gets its juice from a large 4130mAh non-removable battery which offers up to 24 days standby time and 24 hours of talk time. Earlier ZenFone Max featured a 13MP rear camera, powered by PixelMaster 2.0 with a 5MP front camera for selfies. The secondary sensor also has a wide-angle lens.

The smartphone sports a dual-camera setup at the rear with the combination 16-megapixel and an 8-megapixel sensor. The phone still runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with ZenUI on top.

On the connectivity front, Asus Zenfone Max Plus (M1) supports 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and microUSB. The availability details for other markets and pricing of the device are still under wraps, however our guess is that the device is likely to be a mid-range model.
