The officials said the terrorists could use only around 20 percent of the deadly material they had brought with them.

Nine people, including eight students, were killed and 28 others injured when three terrorists stormed the provincial agriculture department-run training institute on Friday morning. Security forces were quick to respond and killed all the terrorists involved in an operation.

This is not the first attack on a university in Pakistan.

Salahuddin Mehsud, Inspector General of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, told PTI that timely action by police and the Army helped in curtailing the number of deaths.

Pakistani Taliban gunmen disguised in burqas have killed at least 13 people in an attack on a university campus in Peshawar, a local police chief has told Al Jazeera.

It is also expected that the militant group would also release detailed footage of the attack, received through the streaming.

The Pakistani Taliban later released a video showing the attack, recorded with what appeared to be a body-mounted camera. ISI, or Inter-Services Intelligence, is the key national security agency in Pakistan.

Photo Security officials showed a cache of weapons confiscated from the attackers. "I rushed to the door and saw a fountain of blood pumping out of the shoulder of my roommate who was standing outside the room", he said.

Noor and another student rushed to his aid, and hid from the gunmen for nearly an hour before they were rescued by security forces.

Among the wounded were two soldiers, seven policemen, a reporter and a private guard in addition to the students.

They preyed on sleeping students, murdering nine of them and wounding 36 others, before being taken out by security personnel in a two-hour-long operation.

The area where the incident occurred is a hub for educational institutions in the city including the university of Peshawar.

Violence erupted over the weekend after police and paramilitary forces launched a bungled attempt to clear the sit-in, igniting fresh demonstrations in cities across the country, including in Lahore and Karachi.
