  • Robin Wright To Lead Final ‘House Of Cards’ Season Without Kevin Spacey

NETFLIX has reached an agreement to resume production on House of Cards season six, the show's final season, in early 2018, according to chief content officer Ted Sarandos.

According to reports, the series will now be centered on Robin Wright's Claire Underwood, the wife of Spacey's character. The season will contain eight episodes and bring a "good, creative conclusion" to the series, Sarandos said.

Netflix Inc severed ties in November with Spacey, one of its biggest stars who played fictional USA president Frank Underwood in "House of Cards", after accusations of sexual misconduct against the Oscar-winning actor.

Production of the show was suspended in October following sexual assault allegations against star Kevin Spacey.

It was announced in an official statement by Netflix that the company would no longer be affiliated with the once, critically-acclaimed actor following the on-going accusations against him.

The Oscar victor was subsequently fired from the show, sparking rumours suggesting that would mark the end for House of Cards.

The fate of House of Cards, the political drama starring Spacey as scheming politician Frank Underwood, was initially unclear. Past seasons have had 13 episodes.

There's a new lead in town to finish House of Cards. As more allegations surfaced, Spacey's representative told the press that the actor was seeking treatment.

Spacey has been replaced by Christopher Plummer in the Ridley Scott biopic about oil tycoon J Paul Getty.

However, Sarandos did not say how Spacey's absence will be explained in the new season.
