Charlie Brooker's dystopian sci-fi anthology series, Black Mirror, has served up an intriguing Star Trek homage. "We did the 1980s [in San Junipero] when we didn't think we could do that, so then we thought, 'Can we do space?'"

Black Mirror have announced the release date of season four with an extensive look at the upcoming six episodes. As Brooker himself put it at a preview event in October, that dynamic has ensured his fans are constantly feeding him story seeds: "I'm immediately alerted to any frightful development in the world".

You've been kind and patient all year, and now Netflix is ready to reward you: There's an official release date for Black Mirror Season 4.

Cole herself looks like a fun character - while off-ship on a mission, she starts to whine about an overly dramatic villain and is immediately shushed by a more dedicated crew member. But "Crocodile" seems more interested in how they can be twisted. While things seem normal, this is "Black Mirror", so some kind of awful twist is nearly certainly lurking. Sure! Everything will be fine.

First up is "Arkangel", being directed by Jodie Foster.

Fans must've figured it was only a matter of time before Black Mirror was added to the release schedule given the PR train was running at full speed. "Hang the DJ" immerses itself in the real-life horror that is online dating. If Miloti's eye-roll in the teaser is anything to go off of, there's some campy self-awareness to go with the inevitable dark future of misused technology here.

Any of the black-and-white footage from the series trailer is from this episode, "Metalhead", which somehow hinges on the discovery of a dog - or a "dog", not clear exactly what that means - in a warehouse by The Theory of Everything's Maxine Peake.

The proprietor vows that "If [an object] did something bad, chances are, it's in here". And obviously he's going to tell some of those sick, sad stories.

Black Museum, directed by Colm McCarthy, and starring Douglas Hodge, Letitia Wright, and Babs Olusanmokun.

In case you weren't aware, we're very excited for the release of the fourth season of Black Mirror. The reasons are usually just creepy ones that say a lot about humanity's inherent failings.
