  • Maryland weather: Overnight flurries, 2 to 4 inches of snow possible Saturday

The storm moved through the South to the Gulf Coast and the panhandle of Florida.

It's possible that overnight flurries may stick to the ground, according to the National Weather Service, though they're only likely to accumulate to less than half an inch. Areas south and east of I-195 will see the most snowfall this weekend. As a result, some counties in South Jersey originally under the "winter storm warning" criteria have been scaled back to a "winter weather advisory". MS and Alabama may see one to three inches by Friday evening, as well as Atlanta, Georgia.

In Georgia, eastern Alabama, and the southern Appalachians, snow is still falling. Emergency management officials planned to open warming centers in Baltimore, Pasadena, Odenton and Edgewater Saturday night through Sunday morning. North Carolina got about one foot of snow.

Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for southern New Haven, and all of Middlesex, New London, and Windham counties through the evening hours. New York City will see 3 to 5 inches between noon and 6 p.m., and the New England coast could see up to 6 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 5 a.m. Fridy to 7 a.m. Saturday.

We'll update this story if the forecast changes in any notable way. The Pacific Northwest and Upper Midwest, however, will see less precipitation than normal.
