Snapchat, which was not immediately available for comment, has struggled to grow beyond its core base of young users. The social media app announced December 28 they would be launching A Look Back at 2017, a new feature that allows over 158 million Snapchat users to share their favorite photos and memories of 2017 with their friends. Snap will only use photos and videos you saved inside Memories, Snapchat's archive feature that lets users save snaps so they don't disappear forever. The feature would be called "Stories Everywhere".

Snapchat users who snap and save can take a stroll down memory lane with the app's new feature, "A Look Back at 2017". According to the company, "Each Snapchatter's own 2017 Story will include snaps that are automatically categorized and strung together to tell a fun, year-end narrative that's personal to you". If you are looking under "Stories" or "Camera Roll", you won't be able to find it.

To get the new features, update your iPhone and Android Instagram apps to versions 10.16 and 10.16.1, respectively. The success of this feature has been undeniable and it seems that other social media platforms have finally made a decision to emulate it.

"Snap has also contemplated allowing other apps to access its feeds of user-generated videos, which are curated by algorithms and Snap employees, for everything from breaking news events to sports games", says Cheddar.

Meanwhile, Snap Inc. - the parent company of Snapchat has hired Rahul Chopra - the former Senior Vice-President and Global Head of Video at News Corp and also the CEO of social data agency Storyful to lead the project. Snap then the company has been busy & distracted in dealing with stagnate user growth and declining revenue. This would surely open a way for Snapchat to make money through licensing. Unfortunately, it did not come close to Instagram Stories' active users of 300 million per month.
