  • Congress MLA Asha Kumari slaps woman police constable she slaps her back

Shimla: On Friday, in a shocking incident, a newly elected Congress MLA, from Dalhousie Asha Kumari in Himachal Pradesh, got into an altercation with a female police constable.

The complaint mentioned that lady constable did not allow her to enter in the Congress Office where she was invited to attend the meeting having entry pass.

The Congress MLA later tendered an apology for the incident, saying "the lady constable misbehaved, abused me and nearly beat me, but I should not have lost my calm". However, she said the constable pushed her and abused her. The incident reportedly occurred when Asha Kumari was said to have been denied entry for the review meeting by Congress President in the midst of huge crowd at the entrance of the venue. "I will not tolerate indiscipline in the party". Earlier, a video went viral in which Asha Kumari slapped a woman cop who reverted to her with another slap.

The story was not over yet, and Asha Kumari feels the women constable should have used restrain as she was of her mother's age. "In a rage, I raised my hand in retaliation and she also did the same", Kumari told reporters outside the Congress office. She had defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) DS Thakur.

When the incident happened, Rahul was inside the party office where he was meeting MLAs, defeated candidates and local leaders to discuss the defeat of the Congress.

Gandhi is here on a day-long visit to Shimla to take feedback from party workers and legislators on reasons for the party's defeat in the assembly polls held on November 9.
