Lions beat Packers 35-11 and Caldwell stays calm, collected

  • REPORT Jim Caldwell'expected to coach his last game Sunday

It may be a meaningless final game of the regular season for the Detroit Lions but that does not mean it's ok to just skip out on team meetings.

The Packers played without many of their best players, and further hurt their changes with three turnovers in the first half.

He's also the first Detroit wideout to do it.

There is no question about it that Caldwell is a great man and is loved by his players but unfortunately, his football coaching skills are not good enough and it's time for the Lions to go in a different direction before it's too late. Detroit, meanwhile, was close to full strength in what could be Jim Caldwell's final game as head coach.

Detroit (6-5) made mistakes in every phase of the game and Minnesota took advantage. The quarterback finishes the season with 29 touchdowns and 4,446 passing yards.

The 3,000th completion came on a five-yard pass to running back Tion Green in the third quarter of the season finale against the Green Bay Packers.

Xavier Rhodes ended Detroit's comeback hopes with an interception at the Detroit 37 late in the game. They did take a 3-0 lead on Mason Crosbys 41-yard field goal late in the first quarter, but Detroit tied it on the ensuing possession and took control in the second quarter.

Trevor Davis was the leading receiver with three catches for 56 yards. The Lions were held to a total of 53 yards rushing. RT Mike Remmers was inactive with a concussion and Rashod Hill replaced him.

The Lions entered the game as 7-point favorites.
