On Saturday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degree Celsius; the maximum temperature was recorded at 22.6 degree Celsius.

Dense fog affected flight operations at the India Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Sunday as the schedule of more than 200 flights was affected, which inconvenienced many passengers as waiting time increased up to six hours. This happened due to a rapid build up of particulate matter owing to foggy conditions, even as Delhiites stepped out in large numbers to mark the first day of the New Year.

This is the second consecutive day that the Delhi airport witnessed fog-induced delays. All flights to and from the national capital are on standby and no operations are active as of now due to low visibility, news agency ANI reported.

"Delhi woke up to worst fog of the season". 20 other trains were rescheduled while 15 more were cancelled.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius. This is also an improvement, as RVR was in the range of 50-100 metres in the last two days. However, for take-offs a minimum visibility of 125 metres is required.

Director of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) RK Janamani, for the Delhi region and the IGI airport, said that visibility was 50-75 meters at the runway at 5:30 in the morning.

On January 1, 2018, the air pollution in the national capital stood on the brink of emergency level adding to the worsening fog condition. The dense fog seems to create major problems for the visitors as the operations at the airport is severely affected.
