Subzero temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below zero will greet us across northeast IL and northwest IN this New Year's Day, and when combined with the northwest breeze, we will experience unsafe wind chills IN the minus 20- to minus 30-degree range Monday morning. Temperatures for most Monday are only in the teens.

Wind chill advisories have also been issued for parts of the state. Expect wind chills to range from 5 below zero to 25 below zero through noon.

New Year's Day will be sunny with highs in the low 20s but it will feel between 5º-10º most of the day.

Sub-zero temperatures and risky wind chill readings gripped north-central and north-eastern Montana at the beginning of 2018. Winds from the northwest at 10-15 miles per hour will keep wind chills at or below 0.
