Amazon Brings Cooking Capabilities To Alexa Smart Home Skill API

The tech giant has announced it is adding cooking capabilities to its Smart Home Skill API - the programming tools that make it possible to connect Alexa with internet-connected devices.
"Instead of pressing multiple buttons to enable advanced microwave features, your customers can now use their voices".
Specifically, when you need to have something heated in the microwave or oven in the future, you could simply say, "Alexa, heat this on high for one minute".
Whirlpool has signed on to launch an Alexa-ready microwave that will be the first to the market.
"We're excited to take the next step in our work with Amazon through the Alexa Fund investment and to offer our customers even more engaging experiences with their June Ovens", said Matt Horn, CEO of June Life.
Manufacturing partners that have signed on to the program include GE Appliances, Kenmore, LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool.
