In extremely excellent news, actresses walking the red carpet at today's Golden Globes will be accompanied by activists for women's rights and racial equality, including Tarana Burke, who founded the #metoo movement.

Susan Sarandon brought Rosa Clemente, a political commentator.

The actress, who will be presenting at the event tonight, walked the annual event with Marai, the leader of Imkaan, a United Kingdom -based women's organization that is aimed at responding to and preventing violence against black minoritized women and girls.

Meryl Streep brought National Domestic Workers Alliance Director Ai-jen Poo as her guest and in a red carpet interview she talked about how women were standing up about sexual abuse and inequalities in the workplace. As Meryl Streep emphasized during her appearance on the E! red-carpet pre-show, it's really about inclusiveness on all fronts and making sure women in all fields have a choice.

Amy Poehler's guest was Saru Jayaraman, director of the Food Labor Research Center at University of California, Berkeley.

Emma Stone brought Billie Jean King, whom she portrayed in "Battle of the Sexes". "A lot of women say they've been sexually harassed but didn't do anything about it because it was never as bad as when they were young women working in restaurants", she says. King said it was "one of the highlights" of her life to attend on such an important night.

The women of Time's Up, the official Hollywood initiative to combat sexual harassment both within and beyond the entertainment industry, picked the dress code, encouraging men and women to wear black as a symbol of solidarity with those combating sexual harassment, discrimination, and assault. It's now Emma's turn and her generation to do that.

Janney added, "I'm wearing black to stand with every man and women out here in Hollywood to stand-up for people, mostly women, who have been sexually abused, assaulted or harassed and made them feel unsafe at workplace and who have been held back due to their sex".

The Time's Up sexual harassment prevention initiative launched January 1 by Shonda Rhimes, Reese Witherspoon, Emma Stone and other prominent Hollywood women includes, among other things, a legal defense fund for victims, legislative initiatives and a request that women wear black to the Golden Globes.
