Militants attack police party escorting prisoner at SMHS, policeman killed, prisoner escaped

According to the reports, the terrorists fired shots at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, and then fled from the spot.

In the course of firing, the Pakistani terrorist managed to escape and terrorists also fled from the point.

The slain policemen has been identified as constable Mushtaq Ahmad and Babar Ahmad who died at the hospital after receiving grevious wounds.

Further details are awaited.

A major manhunt has been started to nab him.

The police team was taking six prisoners, including Jhutt, to the hospital for treatment, said Deputy Inspector General (Central Kashmir) Ghulam Hasan Bhat, who visited the scene of the attack. Jat and five others had been brought to the hospital for a routine medical checkup by policemen when the militants fired on them. Two policemen were wounded in the firing.

The incident spread panic in Kashmir Valley's premiere government hospital in Kaka Sarai area.

Jutt was second in command of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group at the time of his arrest. Meanwhile, the other injured police personnel later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. He was arrested in 2014 following an attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur. A high alert has been sounded in the city and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have begun search operations in hospital premises.

Hanzullah from Pakistan, was arrested previous year, and was being taken to hospital from central Jail Srinagar by police when militant attack took place.
