The new Hyundai Santa Fe is officially revealed in the first photos of the 2018 Santa Fe from Hyundai, showing an SUV with a bold new look and new technology.

The first fully-revamped Santa Fe to be rolled out in six years comes as the carmaker badly needs a new SUV to drive up sales in major markets like the USA, where the demand for crossovers has been on the rise. This means the small lamps and large grille found on the Kona and i30 are making their way to the Santa Fe. It features refined lines that reinforce the car's status at the top of Hyundai's SUV lineup. The increased length and wheelbase providing what Hyundai claims is best-in-class legroom for the second row, while third-row headroom has also been increased. All-wheel drive is also available.

The current 2.2-litre diesel engine will be carried over from the outgoing vehicle, albeit modified slightly for lower Co2 emissions, and there will be an option of a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Additionally, a new server-based voice recognition system incorporates artificial intelligence technology from Korean tech company Kakao to improve functionality and accuracy.

On the safety side, the revamped midsize SUV boasts everything from forward collision warning and lane departure warning to frontal collision avoidance and high-beam assist. A new feature called Rear Occupant Alert will be included to remind a driver leaving the vehicle that someone is in the rear seats.

Those looking for more can opt for the Limited or the Ultimate model which will be coming in with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.
