Rebel-held areas in Eastern Ghouta, meanwhile, continue to be a target of airstrikes, a Syrian monitoring group said.

Photo Rescue workers searched for survivors amid the rubble after airstrikes on the rebel-held town of Douma in the Eastern Ghouta suburbs.

From 2013 Eastern Ghouta is totally under government siege.

News shared the video on Twitter on Tuesday.

Israel and Syria remain technically at war.

Russian Federation has waged a punishing aerial campaign against Syria's armed opposition since intervening in the civil war on the side of its ally, President Bashar Assad, in 2015.

Syria's government has repeatedly denied using chemical weapons, but in the country in the past month.

Russian Ambassador to the U.N. Vassily Nebenzia labeled Haley's words as "slander" and condemned outrage surrounding the alleged attack as meant to "basically accuse the Syrian government of chemical weapons use where no perpetrators have been identified".

On Monday, the opposition Syrian National Coalition condemned what it described as a "barbaric onslaught" by Russian and Syrian forces in Idlib province in recent days and demanded United Nations action.

The following month, UNICEF says childhood malnutrition levels in the region are the highest recorded in Syria since the war began. Sirens and wailing mixed with the relentless sound of airstrikes as residents of eastern Ghouta were unable to keep up with the onslaught.

Russian Federation proposed a rival press statement eliminating references to Thursday's attack and to "the unacceptable level of violence in Syria, particularly in eastern Ghouta".

In a statement, Paulo Pinheiro said the spiraling violence had made "a mockery of the so-called 'de-escalation zones"' - an agreement reached previous year among Russia, Iran and Turkey to stabilise the lines of conflict and open corridors for humanitarian aid.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said a fact-finding mission "is investigating all credible allegations".

In Idleb, the military operations resulted in increased casualties and movement of civilians to safer areas.

Wearing mismatched military gear, some in jeans and others with scarves wrapped around their faces, a few admit this is the first time they have ever touched a weapon, but say they feel compelled to defend their hometown.

At least twenty deaths have been reported after Russian and government air-strikes in several locations across Idlib.

Also Tuesday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani criticized Turkey's ongoing offensive against USA -backed Syrian Kurdish fighters in the Syrian enclave of Afrin, saying it doesn't serve the interests of any country in the region.

The United Nations in Syria on Tuesday called for a one-month ceasefire in the country to allow the delivery of desperately needed supplies and medical care to civilians caught up in fighting, Deutsche Welle reported. "If anything, these have been serious escalation areas".

NGOs suggest more than half a million people have been killed and half the population uprooted since war broke out in 2011, after regime troops brutally put suppressed anti-government protests sparking an armed revolt.
