Carter Page: FBI 'shredded' Constitution by eavesdropping on him

Former President Donald Trump campaign adviser Carter Page confirmed during a Tuesday interview that he has never spoken to Trump in his life.

Page has said that he's never spoken to President Donald Trump despite his status as a foreign policy adviser. McClatchy reported past year that in 2008, the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan sent a cable to the U.S. State Department describing how Page had met with government officials in the country, which was formerly part of the Soviet Union, about possibly working for their oil companies.

Both on Good Morning America and during an interview on Monday night's edition of Laura Ingraham's Fox News show, Page played up the significance of a recently released House Republican intelligence memo alleging the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign is rooted in anti-Trump bias among Obama-era officials.

Page insisted, as the memo says, that the FISA warrant relied on a controversial and unverified dossier funded by Democrats and put together by Christopher Steele.

The letter, dated August 25, 2013, was sent by Page to an academic press during a dispute over edits to an unpublished manuscript he had submitted for publication, according to an editor who worked with Page.

After a woman asked him why his Wikipedia page claims he'd never talked to Trump, Page replied: "I made a commitment not to talk about the internal work that I did at the campaign". So that does lead people to believe: "'is this guy working with Russia?'"

Page said Friday the memo revealed "misdeeds against the Trump Movement". Page said he used that description in connection to meetings he held in advance of an worldwide summit about global energy issues.

Around that same time, Page was also being targeted for recruitment as an intelligence source by Russian spies promising favors for business opportunities in Russia, according to a sealed Federal Bureau of Investigation complaint. During their meeting, Page provided documents to the diplomat which he claimed on "GMA" were just notes from a course he was teaching at New York University. The speech was aired live by Kremlin-connected Russia Today. Page says he had subsequent similar meetings, describing them to TIME as "really plain-vanilla stuff".

"It sounds - giving documents, to a quote unquote spy - it sounds a lot worse than reality, but that's reality".
