YouTube Blocks Ads From Logan Paul Videos Over Latest Tasteless Antics

  • Back on YouTube, Logan Paul draws PETA ire for zapping dead rats with stun gun

"After careful consideration, we have chose to temporarily suspend ads on Logan Paul's YouTube channels", YouTube said in a statement Friday. It all started when he tweeted about eating Tide Pods and posted a video in which the youtuber uses a stun gun on dead rats and takes a little fish out of a koi pond he then puts the fish on the ground.

Paul briefly stepped away from making daily posts and returned January 24 with an anti-suicide video in which he said he was humbled by the criticism and promised to be more compassionate and to "start a new chapter" in his life.

The company has made this decision because notable creators like Paul and YouTuber Felix "Pewdiepie" Kjellberg have exhibited controversial behavior that is seen to be harmful to the YouTube community.

The video was fiercely derided online and by fellow YouTube personalities, and eventually led YouTube to kick Paul's channel out of its premium video network, Google Preferred, which is created to only offer higher-quality videos for brands to run ads.

Paul's manager and publicist didn't respond to requests for comment on Friday. Among them, encouraging his young followers to participate in the Tide Pod challenge in a now-deleted tweet: "swallowing 1 tide pod per retweet".

There is also an additional twist that will be particularly impactful, given that the popularity of a lot of videos on YouTube rests on them being discoverable.

YouTube said his actions could "damage" the wider video-making community. Less than one week later, however, he has found himself with a temporary suspension by YouTube from displaying ads on his channel after filming himself using a Taser on a#dead rat.

Paul made numerous apologies and said he was "taking time to reflect". Following vast backlash, Paul publicly apologized and pledged to donate $1 million to suicide prevention organizations.

YouTube says that it will take away a channel of its ability to serve ads and access monetization services like Google Preferred and YouTube Partner Program.

Suspending all ad revenue is the most severe punishment yet for Paul's channel.

However, it's now unknown how much this move will affect the YouTuber.

Paul apologized for the "mistake", and also stepped away from the platform for some time to reportedly do some soul searching. Crucify me, vilify me, and I can promise you one thing, guys.
