  • Passengers Told To AVOID Sydney Airport This Morning

A passenger has set off a security screen at Brisbane Airport's worldwide terminal, causing a backlog of commuters now scrambling to reach their flights.

"We hope to have the area cleared shortly to recommence screening", Brisbane Airport tweeted.

Sydney Airport said the technical issue was affecting passenger processing at the T1 global and T2 Domestic terminals up until about 8:30am.

"Security screening at Sydney Airport is now operating at normal capacity following an earlier technical issue".

The other domestic terminal, T3, is operated by Qantas and did not experience the same issue. We picked that up before we opened the terminal this morning. We're working to resolve this technical issue as soon as possible. "We're advising passengers and visitors to avoid T1 and T2 until further notice", Sydney Airport said on Twitter. "And of course security and safety is a top priority".

"The AFP is assisting Brisbane Airport security staff following a routine passenger screening matter", a statement from the Australian Federal Police said.

Some passengers are being re-screened, and a number of worldwide flights will be delayed.

Impacting multiple flights nationwide, the computer glitch prevented passengers from boarding until the system was restored, creating crowds of frustration throughout departure terminals.
