He follows that with: "We've elected not to do that". And we're not going to traffic in your personal life. An onslaught of negative reactions ensued both from many people and the press due to deep-seated concerns Facebook doesn't care about digital privacy and rather profit off knowing as much about users - like their tendencies and traits - as possible.

When asked what he would do if he was in Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg's situation, Cook simply said he "wouldn't be in this situation" to begin with.

"I think the best regulation is no regulation, is self regulation".

Said Cook: "We don't subscribe to the view that you have to let everyone in that wants to or if you don't, you don't believe in free speech..."

While the company that makes most of its money from selling hardware products like iPhones, iPods, AppleWatch and MacBooks has had nibbled at the advertising business for monetary gains.

Speaking in an interview with U.S. network MSNBC and tech site Recode, the Apple chief executive said that while he believed tech firms should self-regulate, it was too late for Facebook. Several tech companies have voiced their frustrations with Facebook's handling of the recent Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal. "I do think it's time that a set of people think deeply about what can be done".

"At stake is the data security of hundreds of millions of law-abiding people and setting a unsafe precedent that threatens everyone's civil liberties", he continued.

In an interview to Recode/MSNBC, Tim Cook was asked what would he do if he was in Mark Zuckerberg's shoes and he responded: "I wouldn't be in this situation". Now he has to deal with a #DeleteFacebook campaign that is trending, and is expected to testify before Congress on how something like this could happen in the first place.

Though the interview of MSNBC is scheduled to air on April 6th, the network has released few clips this week, in which Tim Cook bashed against Facebook.

You're the product." Zuckerburg had mocked Cook's ridiculous concept by saying, " What, you think because you're paying Apple that you're somehow in alignment with them?
