  • Central American migrants gather to talk while they take a break from traveling in their caravan on their journey to the U.S. Oaxaca Mexico

Any loyal follower of President Donald Trump's Twitter feed may have noticed that he has taken up the cause of a "caravan" of migrants making its way through Mexico to the US border.

The declaration asks the Mexican Ministry of Interior to suspend the bilateral cooperation regarding migration and the fight against organized crime "while President Donald Trump doesn't act with civility and respect that the people of Mexico deserve". He also announced earlier this week that he would send troops to the border to prevent illegal crossings.

"Trump's conduct has been permanently and systematically, not only disrespectful, but insulting, based on prejudices and misinformation and making frequent use of threats and blackmail", said Laura Rojas, head of the Mexican Senate's Foreign Relations Committee, Reuters reported.

"Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said she had been working with governors of the southwest border states to develop agreements on where and how many Guardsmen will be deployed".

President Trump sent a Tweet Tuesday morning about the caravan, saying it "better be stopped".

Jose Antonio Meade, the candidate of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party who ranks third in polls, on Wednesday urged candidates to stand together in denouncing the deployment of troops on the border.

The caravan, estimated to contain more than 1,000 migrants, is part of an annual caravan that is meant to raise awareness of the struggles that immigrants making the journey from Mexico to the USA face.

"We will reach Puebla in different buses".

"No to the militarization of the border, no to the wall". The statement said that the caravan has taken place each year since Y 2010, and that 400 people in the group have already been deported. For the organizers, the multitude guaranteed more attention to the plight of the migrants, many of whom were fleeing hardship and violence.
