The woman who shot three people at YouTube headquarters Tuesday did not have a link or relationship with the three people she shot, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said Wednesday.

People who post on YouTube can receive money from advertisements that accompany their videos, but the company "de-monetizes" some channels for reasons including inappropriate material or having fewer than 1,000 subscribers. "I did the best I can to avoid it but the cop didn't do their job", her brother insisted in an interview with this news agency. "And she had a problem with YouTube", Aghdam's brother told CNN affiliate KGTV.

At the well-manicured apartment complex in San Diego where Aghdam lived with her grandmother, neighbors described her eccentricities.

"We know that she was upset with YouTube, and we've determined that right now that's the motivation that we've identified", Barberini said.

YouTube employees Alina Zhu, 25, left, and Doreen Tran, 25, right, hug as they walk down a parking lot two blocks away from where a shooting at the YouTube headquarters occurred in San Bruno, Calif., April 3, 2018. At least three people were injured and the suspected shooter was found dead.

Police spoke with Nasim Najafi Aghdam who by then had traveled nearly 500 miles away from home and was just 30 miles away from YouTube headquarters.

The family has since released an official statement acknowledging that attack, while also extending their sincerest sympathies to the victims who were hurt because of Aghdam.

"Our family is in absolute shock", he wrote, "and can't make sense of what happened yesterday".

"I didn't know she had a gun".

Aghdam's YouTube, Instagram, and website have been taken down following the attacks, but content uploaded in the last two weeks backs up her father's report that she was angry at the online video platform.

When Mountain View Police later told the family they found her sleeping in her auto, the brother says he warned them. The Mountain View police department reportedly did not share the information with San Bruno police.

Ismail said his daughter was a vegan activist and animal lover who would not even kill ants that invaded the family home when she was a youngster.

Officers also discovered Aghdam sleeping in her auto hours before the attack, failing to apprehend her as they thought she posed no risk, as previously reported byCrimeOnline.

The FBI and ATF are also involved in the investigation, and on Wednesday morning, authorities executed search warrants in the Riverside County community of Menifee, where her father lives, and at the San Diego home where relatives say she most recently lived with her grandmother.

"She would yell from the balcony and say we were nasty", Sanford-Salar said.

The woman who opened fire at YouTube headquarters in Northern California may have been a disgruntled user of the video-sharing site.

Over the weekend Aghdam's family reported her missing to police when she disappeared and stopped answering her phone. The third shooting victim, a 36-year-old man, was upgraded from critical to serious condition.

Police said they spoke to her for about 20 minutes but she didn't appear to be a threat to herself or others. She had established a short-lived nonprofit charity called PeaceThunder and YouTube channels in English, Farsi and Turkish to promote her vegan views. The company will "demonetize" any video that might be non-friendly to YouTube's advertising partners, but the system is still in its infancy, and numerous YouTube creators have slammed the way YouTube selects videos for demonetization.

Aghdam was intense, he said.
