Parts of a vehicle consistent with a Honda were found, as well as "various personal items that were consistent with a family traveling on vacation", according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol.

A "missing" poster shared by friends and family on face-book identified that the Thottapilly family associates as 42-year-old Sandeep, 38-year-old Soumya, 12-year-old Siddhanty and 9-year-old Saachi.

The Sheriff said that the river was at flood stage at the time of the accident, with the water flowing at 14 miles per hour.

The-Lost motor vehicle dragged to some turnout, was reportedly southbound on Highway 101 and went over the side and also in to the river.

The Eel River on the day the vehicle was lost. Their last known location was near Klamath near the OR border.

The search along the Eel River is north of where another search has been going on along the Mendocino County coast for members of a family of eight whose SUV plunged off a towering ocean bluff and into the surf line below.
