  • French Intel Alleges Syria Hiding Chemical Weapons Since 2013- Report REUTERS ECPAD French Military

May faced down her domestic critics as France's premier defended the "proportionate" response to the use of chemical weapons.

May in her statement called it a "limited and targeted strike".

On Monday, Mr Corbyn said the government must be "accountable to this Parliament and not to the whims of this USA president".

"I'm afraid that is the unhappy corollary of this that if we say we're limiting our action to chemical weapons. then of course it follows that the rest of the Syrian war must proceed as it will", Johnson told BBC television.

The U.S., United Kingdom and France launched strikes on Syria a week after U.S. President Donald Trump said there would be a "big price" to pay for the apparent use of chemical weapons by President Bashar al-Assad's forces in the town of Douma, an attack that killed scores of civilians.

Tens of thousands of Syrians gathered at the Umayyad Square in Damascus on Monday to mark the 72nd anniversary of Evacuation Day (Syrian Independence Day, which marks the evacuation of French occupation forces from the country in 1946) and the victories of the Syrian Army on terrorism and the recent tripartite US-British-French aggression on Syria.

"Our job was never to take Assad out", Haley said, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Chemical weapons inspectors in Syria will be permitted to visit the site of an alleged chemical attack on Wednesday, Russia has said.

"The Syrian regime has reportedly been attempting to hide the evidence by searching evacuees from Douma to ensure samples are not being smuggled from this area".

The Pentagon said that the USA was not involved in any strikes Tuesday morning.

The British, Russian and French ambassadors have all been seen arriving at the headquarters of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.

Monday's debate ended with a vote, forced by the SNP, on whether the House had sufficiently debated the matter of Syria.

Meanwhile, the United States has raised concerns Russian Federation may have visited Douma and "tampered with" evidence.

Protesters also burned US and Israeli flags. "Please be assured", Macron said in his interview, "we've convinced him that we had to stay on in the long term". "We have done it because we believe it was the right thing to do - and we are not alone".

American officials and their European allies were careful to characterise the attack as a one-off strike created to deter Mr Assad from using chemical weapons again.

While insisting the action taken early Saturday morning in Syria was "a very strong attack on the chemical weapons program", Haley hit back on more hawkish critics who argue the USA didn't go far enough because it did not change the balance of power in the long-running Syrian civil war. Their arrival coincided with a Syrian military announcement that it had "purified" the region of eastern Ghouta, of which Douma is a part, after a two-month campaign that has killed almost 2,000 civilians, following years of siege.

The renewed push for a UN-backed diplomatic solution follows a volatile emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, called by Moscow on Saturday, in which Russian Federation condemned the strikes as a violation of worldwide law.

Also by playing a row around Russian diplomatic property in the U.S.as well as USA pressure on the RT broadcaster's activities in the U.S.

The air strikes, on military bases near the capital Damascus and the city of Homs, were "specific measures having been taken with the sole objective to prevent further use of chemical weapons and chemical substances as weapons by the Syrian regime to kill its own people", the statement said.

It's urged the United Nations powerhouse to double all efforts towards a peaceful and non-military resolution in Syria.

The leader of Hezbollah, the Lebonon-based, Iranian-backed militant group, said the strikes have strained global relations and could totally "torpedo" United Nations peace talks in Geneva.
