David Haye should not fight again after Tony Bellew defeat - Steve Bunce

Haye nodded to acknowledge the shot and rose, only to be placed under intense attack, prompting referee Howard Foster to stop the fight and send Bellew racing to the corner of the ring in celebration.

Fourteen months after Bellew first defeated Haye in a grudge match, the former cruiserweight had an encore at the O2 Arena, the same venue where Bellew got the first win in their rivalry.

David Haye didn't give any hints that he would be retiring but it could well have been his last fight with his body appearing to fail him once more.

The younger fighter launched forward recklessly to force his decorated opponent back against the ropes, and landed the explosive right hand to put him down for the first time.

Bellew was in tears after the fight and said he dedicated the win to his late brother-in-law, who died past year.

It now looks like Haye will retire, and if he does continue to fight it is unlikely to garner much interest from the paying public.

Taking nothing away from Tony Bellew.

Bellew caught Haye with a big right hand two minutes into round five and down he went again.

"David Haye is an unbelievable fighter", Bellew said, "we just got into a slugfest".

Bellew tried to force the finish in the fourth, hammering in hooks and right hands as Haye stumbled gingerly around the ring.

"David Haye is an wonderful fighter".

Joshua offers him huge incentive to reverse that result by saying: 'I have defended my title repeatedly for two years and I am ready to do it again'. Whatever you say about Haye, he grew old in there tonight.

Tony "Bomber" Bellew and David "The Hayemaker" Haye face off again tonight for their eagerly anticipated rematch.

"I've kept my gameplan under wraps but it's to do as manage damage in the first six rounds as possible and keep pushing it", said Haye.

Like David felled Goliath, Haye would conquer the Russian giant Nikolai Valuev to win the WBA heavyweight title in November 2009. "I lost to the better man, so congratulations to Tony". But behind the braggadocio lies a supreme talent who cares deeply about boxing, one who's razor-sharp tongue was matched by his laser-like fists.

'I enjoyed every moment of this fight campaign, from the lung busting sessions, the press conference shenanigans, early nights, clean living and even the tear up itself!

"You lot will laugh but I will beat Andre Ward", said Bellew. But a lack of urgency let Haye make it through the round.
