  • Manchester United arrive at the London Stadium to play West Ham needing a point from their penultimate match to secure second place

Manchester United players are "petrified" of Jose Mourinho and would not care if they were sold this summer, Paul Merson has said.

"We're all thinking about them, just as the rest of the football world is".

The Red Devils then turn their attentions to a FA Cup final showdown against Chelsea on May 19.

Well, we say both sides had nothing to play for but West Ham - who are 15th - could have moved level on points with Newcastle in 10th with a win.

He added: We played well, and the important thing is not that it was an exam, it was an opportunity to play and they were part of a very positive performance.

"We are the second best team in the Premier League, a fantastic competition with lots of good teams", said Mourinho.

"Of course, we had ups and downs, but I'm happy I could help the team towards our goals".

"Hugs and kisses at the end so that was good".

"It is normal that Michael Carrick is captain at Old Trafford for the last game of his career". It's good to have up our sleeve.

"We need a point to finish second", stated Mourinho.

For the first time since March 2016 United were unable to score in back-to-back matches, having been defeated 1-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion six days beforehand.

According to The Mirror (Transfer live blog, 21:49pm, Friday, May 11, 2018), West Ham United manager David Moyes will hold talks with the club's board next week.

As for United, they actually secured 2nd place with a point.

The Frenchman had initially been chopped down by West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate which went unpunished by referee Jon Moss, with Pogba taking out his frustrations by deliberately tripping Noble.

Lingard stung the palms of Adrian again early in the second period.

Pogba headed wide as the second half wore on without any real drama, Moyes turning to Andy Carroll with 25 minutes remaining after the pair buried the hatchet following a falling out after the defeat to Manchester City. Subs not used: Hugill, Obiang, Hart, Evra, Fernandes, Cullen.
