Nawaz said that we have separated ourselves. Explain it to me. Nine of the attackers were killed by police while lone survivor Ajmal Kasab was caught in Mumbai and hanged after being handed down a death sentence.

The Indian media picked up Nawaz's statement and headlined it as "Pakistan's confession of "playing a role in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks". In an interview to the Dawn newspaper published on Saturday, Mr Sharif also lamented that Pakistan had isolated itself. On the 26/11trial in Pakistan, Sibal said, "India no longer needs validation of its position on Pakistan's involvement. Why can't we complete the trial?" alluding to the 2008 Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court. "Why can't we complete the trial?"

"Prime Minister Modi went to Pakistan to attend Sharif's birthday celebration".

He also blamed the government, saying that the country can't run on three parallel government, and that it should be one body to govern the people of the country.

Referring to the pressure on Pakistan's political regime to take swift action in this case, Sharif said, "It's absolutely unacceptable".

Pakistan's economy could have been grown at 7% annually, but it was struggling to get there, Sharif said. He indicated that his country should look into why its narrative that it had been fighting terrorism had not been accepted by the global community "despite sacrifices". Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not. There can only be one government: "the constitutional one", he said. The trial appeared to reach a dead end in Pakistan past year after its court said that no progress can be made until the 24 Indian witnesses named in evidence dossier are examined by Pakistani authorities.
