  • Rapper TI says guard was asleep on the job, sparking argument that got him arrested

Atlanta-based rapper T.I. was arrested early Wednesday morning outside of the gated community where he lives. Tip did not have his key to the gated community where he resides, and proceed to argue with a guard who would not let him in, Henry County police told Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta.

According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office, the rapper was detained around 6:00 a.m. and released on his own recognizance around 7:51 a.m.

Back in 2007, T.I. was arrested on federal weapons charges after he sent a bodyguard to purchase machine guns and silencers.

In an update, TMZ reported that sources told them T.I. did not strike the guard but that the guard "feared he would be hit during the dispute", which apparently under Georgia law constitutes simple assault. He says he demanded the guard's name, but the guy refused. "The guard was sound asleep when Tip arrived at the guardhouse".

An argument allegedly ensued as T.I. was joined by a friend. T.I. was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault.

Sadow says T.I. contacted his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, who confirmed her husband should be allowed inside the community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At some point in time, the rapper called a friend for assistance, but both ended up in custody after guard felt threatened. During that argument, things got heated, TMZ said, and the police were eventually called.

An email and call to the rapper's representatives were not immediately returned. "When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip".
