Four reasons why the team will win Game 7

  • Klay Thompson

"Less likely than likely, but working every angle to try", a league source told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski about the possibility of a Paul comeback for Game 7.

The Rockets lost game six at Golden State, 115-86, on Saturday night, which allowed the team to tie the series and force a game seven at Toyota Center.

The NBA gods have been cruel to veteran point guard Chris Paul over the years and this year is no different as he has played a massive role in leading the Rockets to this point, but suffered a hamstring injury in Game 5 and was forced to miss the last game. The Rockets had a ten point lead going into halftime.

But then Klay Thompson happened, and the Oracle Arena crowd came to life. Stephen Curry led the way with 14 points in the frame - only one fewer than the Rockets - and hit 4 of 5 3s, including one with 3:58 remaining in the quarter that gave Golden State the lead for good.

Meanwhile, the Warriors came out cold on offense. The Warriors outscored the Rockets 33-15 in the third quarter and went on to win by the final score of 101-92. I'm sure Harden will step up and probably have his biggest scoring night of the series, but unless the Warriors hand them a bunch of turnovers to gift them some free points, I don't see the Rockets having enough to get the win here.

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be tonight in Boston.

Iguodala's replacement in the starting lineup, forward Kevon Looney, is questionable for Game 7 due to a sore left toe. In 1962, the Lakers, led by Elgin Baylor and Jerry West, scored 51 points in the fourth quarter of Game 5 of their Western Division Final against the Detroit Pistons. Last year, the Warriors clinched the championship in only five games, not ideal from a network or advertiser point of view, so that kind of one-sided Finals series is always possible. They lost because once again they missed more shots, played worse defense and with less energy on the road than they do at home. Here's what you need to know about Warriors and Rockets going into the Western Conference Finals.

Kevin Durant added 23 for the Warriors.

Golden State looked so bad in the first half that Steve Kerr, the back-to-back recipient of the Rudy Tomjanovich Award that honors the most media-friendly National Basketball Association coach, cut short his between-quarters interview with TNT.

Golden State and Cleveland will meet in the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season after the Warriors prevailed in their elimination game against Houston.
