  • Man Utd have triggered the release clause of Porto right-back Diogo Dalot

Portugal U21 global Dalot is understood to have a €20m (£17.4m) release clause in his Porto contract - which expires next summer - and is thought to have attracted interest from some of Europe's leading clubs.

The 19-year-old broke into Porto's first-team last season and has only made a handful of appearances for the Portuguese champions.

Seems like a poor guy can't write scout reports for a few hours without his mentions and DMs being exploded into an insane mess of Diogo Dalot questions.

The Red Devils have been tracking the 19-year-old for months and Mourinho is closing in on the defender.

Manchester United's first choice right-back is of course Antonio Valencia, but at 32, he is edging towards the end of his career.

It is expected that United will make around five signings this summer, with a raft of players, including probably Marouane Fellaini, leaving as Mourinho revamps his squad. Dalot is unlikely to be a starter, with Valencia being one of the manager's favorites, but is certain to get game time with United competing in four different competitions.

United will also continue to monitor Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid, having previously informed his representatives that they would like to be involved in any discussion over his future, should he decide to leave. According to the Mirror, the Old Trafford club are said to be interested in Barcelona full back Jordi Alba.

If the Dalot deal closes, then United's first summer signing would be a defender, just like last summer, and also in 2016 and 2014. "But we are still waiting".
