ABC Cancels Roseanne After Racist Twitter Outburst By Roseanne Barr

  • Roseanne Barr was resoundingly condemned on Tuesday including from many who helped make her show successful

Roseanne Barr said she begged Ben Sherwood, president of the Disney-ABC Television Group, to let her apologize and save the show along with the jobs of those who worked on it.

Barr was sacked after she sent a series of racist tweets Tuesday about Valerie Jarrett, a former aide to President Barack Obama.

Amid the furor over her comment Barr told supporters on Twitter: "I'm not a racist, just and idiot".

In a now-deleted message, she wrote: "Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me".

All of this comes after Barr apologized to Jarrett on Twitter and urged her fans not to defend her. "I will be on Joe Rogan's podcast Friday", she tweeted, before deleting it later on. At one point she she wrote: "I mistakenly thought she was white".

The deplorables are standing strong and banding together behind Roseanne Barr to save her cancelled show.

"If it hadn't happened yesterday, this season would have been so bad for everyone every day because she would have felt like she was [being] taken advantage [of], just like when I left the show".

Scarborough pointed out other Trump actions that have led to accusations he is racist-that he called Mexicans racist early in his presidential campaign, and that he talked about banning many Muslims from entering the U.S. The 65-year-old actress has since apologized and blamed the sleep aid Ambien for her comments - while claiming she would stay off Twitter.

That's a fact. Donald Trump - Roseanne and I have both known him 30 years. Hours later, however, Barr was back on social media, lashing out at colleagues sharing their views on her racially charged comment.

News of Roseanne's cancellation came from Dungey, who said in a statement, "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancel her show".

"I think we have to turn it into a teaching moment", Jarrett said "I'm fine". She also added a note that she's the most sad about Jayden Rey, the young woman who played Roseanne's black granddaughter on the revival sitcom.
