  • James Corden and Paul Mc Cartney on 'Carpool Karaoke'

James Corden ended his weeklong stay in London by driving around Liverpool with none other than Paul McCartney himself in his latest "Carpool Karaoke" segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Thursday, June 21.

After singing "Drive My Car" and the first song he ever wrote, a ditty called "I Lost My Little Girl", Paul explained how the genesis of "Let It Be" came to him in a dream.

Eventually, they end up at a pub to give the locals "the surprise of their life", Corden said. I hope you like it. McCartney shared that the two went into the next room to play the song for McCartney's father.

They stopped at the barbershop mentioned in Penny Lane and Sir Paul took selfies with the stunned staff. I felt so bad when it came out in the press - "Foo Fighters had a awful time, they hated the whole fucking thing". "I had to text him back and was like, 'No dude, that's not what we meant.' What we were trying to say was it was uncomfortable to sit in a vehicle and try to sing our own songs".

Explaining why the moment got him so choked up, Corden said, "I can remember my granddad, who was a musician, and my dad, sitting me down and saying, 'We're going to play you the best song you've ever heard".

"I think this is an afternoon none of us will forget", James then said as he and Paul wrapped their mini-concert with a performance of "Hey Jude".
