  • Priest loses temper & slaps toddler during baptism

A video posted on Reddit showing a priest slapping a baby during a baptism is shocking viewers and garnering attention.

According to Kidspot in Australia, the man can be heard saying: "it's a tantrum, this is called a tantrum".

The baby can be seen crying as the family hands him over to the priest.

The ceremony, which is taking place in French, appears to show the child getting more distressed and seemingly annoying the priest.

The baby then cries even louder.

The child's relatives still appear to be smiling as the priest brings the baby's head towards his, but the baby reacts badly and flails its right arm towards the woman.

The disturbing video has been circulated on social media, but it is still unclear where it was filmed.

At a point however, the priest, visibly annoyed, had had enough, and held the baby's face in his hands, looked it in the eyes and slaps it hard on the cheek with his left hand.

The woman holding the child begins to pull away from the priest, while a church official attempts to step in and stop the priest from going further. "This is in front of cameras, what would happen behind the scenes when you leave a priest and a child alone?" one person wrote.

People on YouTube took to the comments section to express their outrage at the priest's behavior. "If I was the mother of that baby I wouldn't hesitate to push or slap the damn priest back".
