"This investigation is not politically motivated, it is not a witch hunt, it is not a hoax", Strzok said in a statement to be delivered at the hearing.

Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who led the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server and previously worked on the investigation into links between the Russian government and President Donald Trump's campaign, was testifying before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees. Strzok was later reassigned to a job in the FBI's human resources division.

To recap, Strzok was removed from the Mueller investigation and harshly criticized by an inspector general. Trey GowdyHarold (Trey) Watson GowdyFBI agent set for public House grilling Dems call for release of Strzok interview transcript Pruitt is gone, but the investigations remain MORE (R-S.C.) if the Trump texts were biased, Strzok responded, "I do not think that bias was expressed in those text messages".

"If you were kicked off when he read the texts, shouldn't you have been kicked off when you wrote them?"

The report noted that these messages damaged the "FBI's reputation for neutral fact finding and political independence".

Strzok has met with members of the House Judiciary Committee privately, but his hearing scheduled for Thursday is open. "That may be true, but when he says that those texts, quote, 'not indicative of bias, ' that's just flat wrong on its face".

Over 400,000 texts were reviewed in the report. In it, Strzok describes his reluctance to work on behalf of the special counsel, and that seemed to imply he didn't think there would be substantial findings of collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign team. "No he won't. We'll stop it".

Connolly pointed out the hypocrisy of GOP members saying the agent could not perform his duties while also being critical of Trump. "I could SMELL the Trump support...,".

The two agents disparaged Trump throughout 2016, describing him as an "idiot" and a "menace".

Strzok tried multiple times to finish another sentence - which he began by telling Gohmert that he doubts his behavior "plays well to America" - but Goodlatte ended the exchange, telling both men that their time was up. Strzok says he never allowed personal opinions to taint his work. "Not in discussions, not in acts". "Let me underscore, these are not allegations, these are admissions", Cummings said. "Certain private messages of mine have provided ammunition for misguided attacks against the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an institution I love deeply and have served proudly for more than 20 years".

If Strzok doesn't remember writing the text, how can he say with confidence what he meant at the time?

Strzok angrily responded, saying the "we'll stop it" text came in response to campaign occurrences such as Trump insulting the immigrant father of a fallen USA soldier.

He said he was one of the few people during the 2016 election who knew the details of Russian election interference and its possible connections with people in the Trump orbit, and that that information could have derailed Trump's election chances. But the thought of exposing that information never crossed my mind.

While reading one in which he used the f-word while talking about Trump, Strzok paused and asked how he should handle it, then finished.

"At no time in any of these texts did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took", Strzok continued.

But later, Strzok testified that he wrote the text "in response to a series of events that included then-candidate Trump insulting the immigrant family of a fallen war hero, and my presumption based on that terrible disgusting behavior [was] that the American population would not elect someone demonstrating that behavior to be president of the United States".
