Sky Italia claimed that the Red Devils rebuffed an offer of £45million with centre-back Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes also included.

The Frenchman has often been criticized for his subpar performances at Old Trafford, but in recent months, much of the criticism from fans and media has switched to Mourinho, especially in the wake of Pogba's stellar performance in France's World Cup winning effort.

Pogba came through the youth system at United before leaving for Juventus on a free transfer.

Raiola, who took a staggering £41m cut of Pogba's then world record fee when he returned to Old Trafford from Italy in 2016, sounded out some of Europe's top clubs in January and Pep Guardiola confirmed that the player had been offered to Manchester City.

Pogba still has three years remaining on his United contract.

It is added that Pogba was disappointed by Mourinho's public digs at his World Cup performances.

Jose Mourinho wants Pogba back at Old Trafford and is hopeful he can replicate his form on the global stage for United.

Instead of praising Pogba's performances, Mourinho urged him to "understand" why he had done so well in Russian Federation and appeared to suggest the player lacked the same focus for his club. Mourinho appeared to question Pogba's effort and heart while playing for his club, saying, "I don't think it's about us getting the best out of him [at Manchester United], it's about him giving the best he has to give".

Jose Mourinho tells ESPN FC that the World Cup was the flawless habitat for Paul Pogba as he could 'only think about football'.

He goes on to report that United do not want to sell the "important" player as they see him as the franchise of the club.

FC Barcelona could feasibly complete a deal to sign Pogba any time between now and the end of August, when the European transfer window closes.
