  • Protesters stop a man from confronting police outside of a nail salon associated with the nail salon where a dispute took place

According to the nail association, an employee told them Thomas refused to pay for any of the other services she received, telling CBS2 that altercation could have easily been avoided.

The cell phone video, which was posted to Facebook Friday, showed people in aprons grabbing a woman's shirt before another person started hitting her with a long object that looked like a broom handle as she tried to leave the salon.

The video shows what happened next, with several women attacking one customer with chairs and brooms.

Witness Mercy Maduka, who posted a widely-shared video of the incident on Facebook, said the fight was sparked by a bad eyebrow job: "So I'm at the nail salon and they fucked up a lady eyebrow and she refused to pay then a fight broke outttt", she wrote, saying the employees hit the customers "like animals".

Community members are calling for a Brooklyn nail salon to close its doors for good after a brawl there Friday was caught on video. According to the New York Post, Huiyue Zheng was charged with assault and weapon possession. She was later released following a hearing in Brooklyn Criminal Court, police said.

Thomas faces charges of misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor menacing and harassment, police said.

The clip has been viewed over 200,000 times.

Zhing was hospitalized with visible injuries to her face and body, and Thomas refused medical attention, according to police.

A viral video showing a group of nail salon employees beating a customer with a broom has resulted in backlash for the Brooklyn business. "They are violent. I saw these workers beat up a woman, well more like jumped her".

A salon customer was arrested as well.

"There is no respect for people in this neighborhood", resident Gavin Gibbs told The New York Daily News.

Hours earlier, officers had to do the same thing back at 1426 Nostrand Ave. and helped employees get through protesters to safety. They left behind a shuttered salon and protesters hoping it stays that way.

"We need them to know they can not make any money when they treat our grandmothers like this".
