Franklin died Saturday at age 76 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Fans paid their respects en masse on Tuesday (Aug 28) to USA music icon and "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin, whose body lay in a golden casket while dressed in a red dress and matching stilettos in Detroit. Nearby sat the ornate 1940 La Salle hearse that ferried Franklin from the funeral home and also once carried her father, a noted preacher, and Parks to their funerals.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the city's local news stations including WDIV-TV and WXYZ-TV will air Aretha Franklin's homegoing service. Her music evoked thought and encouraged people to look at the world and think of hope and possibility.

"I tend to be a very organized person", Owens said.

"It was handsome, like she's laying on a cloud", said Clemey Robinson.

The "I Say a Little Prayer" songstress still had on her red lipstick and red nails - which went with the red dress she donned Tuesday. The viewing will be open to the public on both days.

What the 18-time Grammy victor will be wearing each day is a "surprise", Swanson said.

The Wright Museum is a cultural landmark in Detroit, where Franklin grew up and spent most of her life.

Swift's speech came about 45 minutes into her set, and was followed up with a moment of silence for Franklin.

"I would like it if we could take a moment of silence so that every single one of us could reflect on our love and respect for her", she continued.

She even tells us what song she's going to sing - and finishes by offering an unofficial invite to the First Family. should they be inclined to attend.

O'Neil Swanson II of the Swanson Funeral Home handed out memorial cards Tuesday to those waiting to view Franklin's body.
